Henglong (Matthew) is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Sociology and a member of the GenTime research project at the University of Oxford.
He obtained his DPhil in Sociology from the University of Oxford, and prior to that, his MPhil in Education Research from the University of Cambridge, MRes and MSc in Management from University College London.
Broadly, Henglong is interested in how human beings' decisions are shaped by economic rationality and social norms, including topics such as gender, DEI, careers, social capital, human capital, etc.
In particular, he is keen on theoretically driven and empirically applied questions, applying economic and psychological perspectives to study sociological topics, and applying sociological perspectives to study organisational/workplace contexts.
