Parking

Car parking is very restricted, both at the Department itself and within the centre of Oxford generally. Worcester Street car park is opposite the Department, but there are also five 'Park and Ride' car parks which provide day return bus travel to the city centre. For full details, please see the Oxford Park and Ride information.

From the North (Birmingham, Worcester, Northampton):

Take the A44 or M40 then A34. Approach Oxford along the A4165 (Banbury Road), and follow it after it merges with Woodstock Road, until the large set of traffic lights just before the Randolph Hotel. Turn right here onto Beaumont Street, then left onto Worcester Street and right onto Park End Street. The entrance to the Department is on your left, a few metres down Tidmarsh Lane.
Park & Ride: Pear Tree (Woodstock Road), Water Eaton (Oxford Road).

From the East (London):

Take the M40 then A40. Take the exit for Marston/Elsfield and turn left onto Marsh Lane (B4150), then right at the roundabout onto the B4495.  Follow the B4495 to its end, and take a left onto Banbury Road, then approach as from the North.
Park & Ride: Thornhill (London Road)

From the South (Abingdon, Southampton)

Take the A34 to the Oxford ringroad, then take the A4142 Eastbound. Turn off towards Oxford on the A4158 (Iffley Road) which takes you to the Plain roundabout and approach as from the East.
Park & Ride: Redbridge (Abingdon Road).

From the West (Cheltenham, Bristol, Swindon)

Take the A420 (Botley Road) into Oxford past the train station, and bear right where the road forks at the end onto Park End Street. The Department is on the right just across the river.
Park & Ride: Seacourt (Botley Road).

Please note

Oxford Railway Station is expected to close on four weekends during September and October 2022 due to engineering work that is planned as part of Network Rail's long-term plans to redevelop the station and surrounding area. Rail replacement buses will be in service. More information is available here.
