As part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations, the Department of Sociology is creating the Oxford Sociology Network, an academic community made up of scholars doing sociological or sociology-adjacent research in the Universities of Oxford or Oxford Brookes.

We want the Network to be a supportive academic environment which fosters and encourages innovative research, knowledge exchange, academic success and professional development.

One of our main goals will be to create opportunities for academics to meet and collaborate across departments and disciplines, and to explore new methodologies and perspectives, advancing sociology as a subject.

Members of the Network will also be listed on our website, becoming a resource for those trying to identify academics undertaking sociological work in Oxford.

The Network will meet every term to create opportunities for collaboration. We will also hold an annual lecture on a sociological topic in Michaelmas term, which will be open to all.

Our first event, on Tuesday 16th April, will be ‘research speed-dating’ – a chance for the Network to meet and get to know one another, and discover whether there are any research synergies, all while having a drink.
