Xiaoguang Fan is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Zhejiang University. He holds a PhD degree from Fudan University. His research examines how social change shapes behaviours and subjective wellbeing in contemporary China. His work has been published in leading international journals, including the British Journal of Sociology, Social Science Research, and Chinese Sociological Review.

His current projects investigate how macro-societal forces reshape the formation, beliefs, and behaviour of elites in the contemporary world. He also contributes to the academic community through roles on the Steering Committee for the World Elite Database and the ISA RC45 Board. Beyond his professional commitments, he is a shutterbug.
