Kate is best known as a writer of anthropology for a popular audience. Her international bestseller Watching the English: The Hidden Rules of English Behaviour has been widely praised by both popular and academic critics, and adopted as an introductory set text in anthropology at many universities.
She is currently working on an interdisciplinary book (working title: Palaeodigital) in which she uses an evolutionary perspective - niche construction theory - to suggest a new way of thinking about social technologies and their role in human welfare.
She has lectured widely in Europe and North America.
