Junko Nishimura works as a Professor of Sociology at Ochanomizu University in Tokyo, Japan. Her research interests include work-life balance, women’s employment, and parent-child relationships.
Her current research focuses on the trends of childcare time spent by Japanese mothers and fathers, examining how these patterns relate to gender and parental educational background. She has also contributed to funded projects, including a cross-national study of welfare regimes with a focus on childcare policy and gender equality, as well as comparative research on declining fertility in East Asia.
