José Ignacio Carrasco is a Lecturer in Sociology at the Department of Sociology, where he teaches Life Course Research in the MPhil in Sociology and Demography, and Quantitative Methods in the Human Sciences undergraduate programme.
His research is situated at the intersection of sociology, social development, and migration studies, drawing on a life course approach and employing a wide range of quantitative and computational methods.
Ignacio has a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). He holds a Master of Science in Demography from Stockholm University, a Master in Migration Management from UPF, and a degree in Sociology from the University of Chile. He is an affiliate at the Max Planck Institute of Demographic Research (MPIDR) Laboratory of Population Dynamics and Sustainable Well-Being and the University of Oxford's Centre on Migration, Policy, and Society (COMPAS).
Ignacio collaborates with international organisations, such as ILO, ECLAC, and the World Bank. In this work, he has co-authored various reports on migration, social development, and malnutrition issues, through which he has developed a strong interest in strengthening the link between academic research and policy practice.
