Dakota J. Betts is an MSc student, specialising in sociology of the body and sociology of violence. With a strong interest in qualitative research, Dakota plans to pursue themes of bodily autonomy, disability, and the intersection of activism with policy.
Dakota's interests are highly international, represented both in coursework in sociology of civil conflict and sociology of China, and in previous work at the University of Michigan which examined sexual violence against women with disabilities in Uganda and was based on significant fieldwork co-conducted onsite in Masaka.
Between lectures and research, Dakota enjoys watching films with friends, rowing for the St Cross + Wolfson College Boat Club, and playing wheelchair tennis.
