Dr Chloe Bracegirdle is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Psychology, University of Surrey.
Chloe’s research examines how social networks shape individuals and societies, with a particular interest in outcomes regarding intergroup relations and wellbeing. Her past work has highlighted how friendship networks influence ethnic prejudice and perceptions of discrimination.
Chloe is currently applying a social network framework to study ethnic integration, inequality, and mental health, with a special focus on positive and negative relationships in the school context. Her current British Academy project is entitled “Breaking boundaries: Understanding the socio-psychological drivers of ethnic integration in schools”.
Prior to joining the University of Surrey, Chloe was based at the University of Oxford where she held her British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Sociology (2024-2025) and worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Nuffield College (2020-2023). Chloe completed her DPhil in Experimental Psychology and MSc in Psychological Research at the University of Oxford, and BSc in Psychology and Language Sciences at University College London.
