Weixi Xie is an MPhil student in Sociology and Demography at the University of Oxford. Prior to joining Oxford, she completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology at Sorbonne Université. While on exchange at the University of Copenhagen, she conducted mixed-methods research on gendered patterns of trust in the police among ethnic minority populations in Denmark.
During her time at Oxford, she further developed her interest in social stratification and inequality. One of her main research focuses has been the social and demographic determinants of health over the life course.
In her thesis, Weixi uses quantitative methods to examine the role of political and religious institutions in shaping fertility behaviours and reproductive health perceptions in Iran, and explores sociodemographic inequalities in health outcomes within an Islamic context.
