Ewa is an Associate Professor in Social Demography and a Tutorial Fellow in Human Sciences at St John’s College.
Her research lies in the areas of demography, sociology, and international development. Ewa’s latest studies focus on the relationship between social and economic inequality and fertility change, the variation and gender differences in family formation, and the consequences of policy changes for health and families.
Ewa is the PI of the ERC Starting Grant project, “Diverging patterns of reproductive behaviour within countries across the globe”. Taking a cross-country comparative perspective and focusing on more than 120 nations spanning the Global North and South, this project aims to investigate the patterns, trends, and determinants of growing within-country variation in childbearing age and fertility levels.
