Tom Snijders studied mathematical statistics at the University of Groningen and obtained his PhD (cum laude) in 1979. He is Emeritus Professor of Statistics in the Social Sciences in Oxford and Emeritus Professor of Statistics and Methodology in Groningen.

His main research areas are methods for social network analysis and multilevel analysis. He is the maintainer of the RSiena package in R. In 2022 he obtained the Paul L. Lazarsfeld award of the Methodology Section of the American Sociological Association.

Research Interests: Statistical inference for network dynamics; Exponential random graph models; joint modelling of social influence and social selection
