Terms, Conditions and Further Information

Please complete an Enrolment Form if you would like to participate on this course. When your form has been processed, we will contact you with payment instructions and a link to the secure University Online Shop.

Your place on the course is only confirmed after you have paid the course fee and we have sent you a confirmation email.

Participants should bring their own laptop to use on the day.

The courses will take place in-person in the Seminar Room in the Department of Sociology building in Oxford. Please see our ‘Finding Us’ page for information about our location and transport links.

Unfortunately, the Department does not have any parking facilities. The Worcester Street public car park is opposite the Department, and there are five 'Park and Ride' car parks which provide day return bus travel to the city centre. For full details, please see the Oxford Park and Ride information.

Our building is wheelchair accessible, but please detail any specific access requirements on your Enrolment Form.

All participants should attend in-person and these courses are not currently available online.

Entry to the building will be permitted only to those with a confirmed place on the course.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, along with a sandwich lunch, for all participants. Please indicate any dietary requirements on your Enrolment Form and these will be accommodated wherever possible.

A confirmation of attendance document will be issued to all participants that enrol and attend the course for the full duration of the day.

Short courses offered by the Department of Sociology are for training purposes. They are not accredited, and participants will not receive any kind of formal qualification.

The Department of Sociology is an inclusive environment. All short course participants will uphold the law and behave in a polite and respectful manner towards departmental staff and fellow participants in all communications.

Participants must refrain from exhibiting any behaviour that is disruptive to the running of the course or that would cause distress, harm or inconvenience to others. This includes damage or destruction of property of the Department of Sociology or belonging to any individual present.

Participants will refrain from consuming alcohol or using any illegal substance (this includes being under the influence). Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property of the Department of Sociology.

Participants may use the Department’s facilities for the purposes of the short course they are attending only and not for any other business, personal or other purposes. Access to the building will be permitted to participants only on the day of the course.

A minimum number of enrolments is required for the courses to run, and the course or courses may be cancelled in the unlikely event of undersubscription.

In the case that a course is cancelled due to undersubscription or unforeseen cause, you will receive a full refund for all fees paid.

Unfortunately, no refunds will be offered to participants that have paid their attendance fee for the course and wish to cancel.

Any participant that is ejected from the course or denied entry to the building for reasons related to a breach of the ‘Code of Conduct for Participants’ will not receive a refund.
