Abstract: This presentation will discuss the results of the recent European Social Survey module on attitudes to energy and climate change. Various aspects are covered including beliefs and concerns about climate change, expectations as to who will do what and how much to resolve the problem, policy preferences, attitudes and behaviours relating to energy usage, preferences between different energy sources and concerns about energy production. Both the broad pan-European character of the attitudes and cross-national differences will be reviewed.

Stephen Fisher is Associate Professor of Political Sociology and Fellow and Tutor in Politics in Trinity College, University of Oxford. He is the author of various articles on social attitudes, political participation and electoral behaviour.
