Social Science graduate students organise weekly meetings to allow graduates to discuss their research. Seminars take place during termtime on Fridays 2-4pm in the Seminar Room, Nuffield College. Tea and coffee are provided.

For more information, particularly if you would like to present and discuss your work, please email one of the convenors:

For regular updates on the seminar series, you can also sign up to our mailing list by sending an email with an empty subject line and "subscribe GRIPS" in the message body to listserv@jiscmail.ac.uk.

GRIPS is run by students, for students. The purpose is to provide a friendly environment for academic discussion between research students (at all levels) who are aiming for excellence in their own research and presentation techniques. We might occasionally invite guest speakers who have recently completed their DPhil theses to discuss their research experiences.
GRIPS is an informal forum in which students' research is presented and discussed. You can, for instance, give a talk about your research proposal or your preliminary results in quantitative and qualitative thesis projects. Perhaps you would like to utilize this opportunity primarily to improve your presentation skills? Just let us know how you would like to utilize the seminar. You are of course more than welcome to just sit in, listen and discuss.
GRIPS is cross-disciplinary. Graduates at all levels in the Social Sciences and related disciplines are very welcome. The seminars are supported by the Department of Sociology.
